Gastroenterology: "GI Health"
Gastroenterology is the medical specialty dealing with the function and diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, liver, and all the digestive organs.
It treats conditions such as colon polyps and cancer, hepatitis, gastroesophageal reflux, ulcers, colitis, gallbladders, irritable bowel syndrome, and pancreatitis.
When should a patient see this kind of specialist? What kind of symptoms may signal a problem? Are there preventive steps a patient can take for good "GI" health?
